20020525 Yellowstone WY

It was noisy last night and not a good sleeping night. We ate at the adjacent restaurant for breakfast. We were on the road again by 10:30. We drove down I15 to SR 69, then to Rt I90 to Livingston MT and turned south to Yellowstone. I was impressed by the snow-capped mountains surrounding us. We got to Yellowstone park about 1:30. We drove to the first area, Mammoth Hot Springs. We had a small lunch and then got gas and ice in Gardiner MT and went back to the park. At the Springs, I got out and walked to get closer look. I saw some elk and bison. We drove toward “Old Faithful”. We went over some rough roads near lots of standing dead trees with new growth under them. Got to “Old Faithful”, but Mary Harriett couldn’t walk to see it. The visitors center nearby had a sign that it erupted at 4:44. It was 5:15 and so would not go up again until about 6:25. I didn’t want to wait, because Mary Harriett was really tired. We drove rest of way to Grant Village, got our room and Mary Harriett just collapsed on the bed. She's taking the antibiotic the dentist gave her, but if she isn't better by tomorrow, we’ll go to the clinic.
