We slept until after 8:00. We had some coffee and looked at Arlene’s pictures of her trip to Berlin, Prague and Budapest. We ate our doughnuts, got our stuff packed then left about 11:00. We stopped at a Safe Way to get groceries for our place in Glacier WA. As it turned out, we should have gotten a few more things, but didn’t know what to expect of the place. We drove north on Rt 5. I had read about Mount Vernon WA, where they grow bulbs and have a tulip festival, so we decided to stop there. Had lunch at Calico Cafe then drove out to the gardens. Most of the tulips were gone, but around the garden shop there were enough to make us happy. We could see Mt. Baker as we drove north with a lot of snow. We wanted to get a tourist coupon book, so we drove a little farther north than Bellingham WA but the tourist info office was closed! So, we headed out to Glacier. Our place, Snowater, is 36 miles from Bellingham. Not much around here except mountains. A really beautiful spot with trails through the woods, tennis courts and two recreation halls with swimming pools. The North Fork of the Noonsack Rivers flows by and you can hear it when you open the balcony door. Our place has a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room and balcony. It is nicely furnished. There is a TV, but no reception, so we can only use it for tapes. We heard the end of the Red Sox - Mariner’s game, we lost 3-6. We walked around some after the game then fixed dinner. We had my favorite: potatoes, hamburger, mushrooms and asparagus. We had to recharge the phone battery, but there is no reception for that either. Mary Harriett will have to go to public phone near the office.
